Accounting
You will be equipped for a career in a range of private, public sector or not-for-profit organisations where you could work in areas such as accounting, administration, auditing, business management, commercial and taxation law, managerial accounting, and taxation. Opportunities exist for exciting and challenging careers locally, nationally and internationally, and aren’t limited to accounting firms.

Economics
You’ll be prepared for work in the banking and finance industry as an analyst or advisor, in property development or real estate; in government policy in fields such as the environment, health, education and transport; or in large mining companies analysing markets and investment opportunities. Why choose this program?

This program will provide students with a core of IT technical knowledge and also allow a major in Information Systems and/or Networks and Security to be undertaken. The program is flexible enough for students to gain expertise in other areas, including those outside the IT domain. The IT technical component of the program commences in Year 1 and addresses IT skills such as understanding the basics of computing technology, how to design and build web sites, computer programming, data management, software development and human computer interaction. This is followed by more advanced IT skills in Year 2 including software technologies, information security and IT services management. The courses for both majors are in Year 2 and Year 3 of the program and, for Information Systems, cover topics such as business analysis, IS architecture, business/IT alignment and project management. Networks and Security students study the design, control and management of various types of networks and applied network security. Students undertaking the Information Systems major will be prepared for International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) certification while those taking the Networks and Security major will be ready for network certification.

The Bachelor of Information Technology addresses the knowledge/skills needed by IT graduates and also allows specialisations in Information Systems and/or Networks and Security. This degree is suitable for students seeking a more generalist IT degree which will allow them to pursue a vocational career in IT with less complex abstract problem solving and programming requirements.

This degree, designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers, provides the opportunity for you to progress directly into our Doctor of Medicine (5099)*.

In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning medical science – anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, genes and disease, law and ethics, microbiology, physiology, and epidemiology. You will also undertake a course in “Human Skills in Medicine” which provides you with knowledge and skills in communication and interaction with patients.

In second year, you will study these areas in greater depth and take medically focused courses in immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, metabolism, structural biochemistry, and molecular genetics, as well as undertaking a capstone course (Integrated Medical Sciences) which integrates and applies the knowledge of basic sciences learned in your first and second years.

An MBA is an advanced general management degree designed for managers who wish to develop a solid business foundation, as well as skills and knowledge of cutting-edge business practices for the 21st century. At Griffith we offer two MBA programs, both are focused around our values of responsible leadership; sustainable business practices; and a global perspective with the aim of making you an effective globally responsible business leader. The two programs we offer differ in their delivery style; one is fully flexible and can be studied online or face to face in a standard 12 week trimester (MBA program 5158). The accelerated program is online only, and each course is delivered over a 6 week period (MBA program 5670). These two delivery styles allow you to choose the method of study that suits you best and both programs are assessed authentically meaning that you can apply what you learn to your workplace with immediate benefit.

In both programs you will study courses in sustainability, accounting and reporting, finance, people management, strategy and innovation and managing change through responsible leadership. Through study you will be equipped with an understanding of the key functional areas within a business and the challenges facing businesses. If you choose the fully flexible option you can choose to focus your electives in a particular area for example, finance, marketing or supply chain management. This program builds on the strong science foundation that students developed in their undergraduate science or health science degree to provide advanced studies in pharmaceutical science, professional and clinical pharmacy practice and pharmacy research. It provides you with a broad range of lectures, group and self-directed learning activities, practical competence-development simulations, inter-professional learning and clinical placements to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to undertake the internship program before applying for registration as a pharmacist.

The pharmacy internship training program is 48 weeks in duration and its completion and meeting the terms of all other statutory requirements are mandatory before applying to the Pharmacy Board of Australia for registration as a pharmacist.
